THE PROBLEM

MALNUTRITION IS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF TODAY'S MUST BLATANTLY VISIBLE PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEMS AND IT IS COMPOSED BY TWO ABSURD EXTREMES:

  • UNDER-NUTRITION AND HUNGER are usually caused by poverty and social inequity that results in a lack of access to a balanced diet.

The World Health Organization says that malnutrition affects about 805 million people worldwide. At least a third of them are children.

  • OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY are usually caused by the lack of awareness, nutrition knowledge and good eating habits. It is a complex condition, with serious social and psychological dimensions, that affects all age and socioeconomic groups.

Accordingly with the World Health Organization, in 2014, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of these over 600 million were obese.

THIS PROBLEMS BECOMES MORE CRITIC WHEN IT COMES TO CHILDREN. MALNURISH KIDS HAVE GREATER CHANCE OF GETTING SICK, AND DEVELOP DELAY ON PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT.
